The Oracle Fusion Cloud 24D release brings several new features to the Global Human Resources module, designed to enhance user experience and streamline HR processes.

For those interested in the Core HR experience for self-service and HR Specialists, 24D has introduced a number of Journey-related changes, such as a new Journey Console and Guided Journey actions to replace the Checklist Templates and console area.

However, a few of our favorite new features in 24D are brought into focus below.

  • Guided Journeys within Journeys

Guided Journeys is a feature that has been available for a number of years now, however with the ramping up of the rollout of Redwood and Visual Builder Studio this year, they have become intrinsic to the Redwood experience.

Not only can you embed OTBI reports and dashboards, and set guidance and media to appear on many Redwood pages via Guided Journeys, you can now put Guided Journeys onto Journey pages themselves.

This is a valuable enhancement for customers who are moving to Journeys in preparation for the deprecation of Onboarding and Checklists before 25A (February 2025) since it may help to socialize end users with Journeys UI.

For those already using journeys there are a number of business cases we would apply this to;

  • Onboarding tasks in a journey could be supported by a strapline video of the CEO welcoming staff to the business.
  • Managers recording absences could have a report embedded to show previous absences related to the individual/team.
  • On-page guidance for how to look for journeys as an end user or an HR Administrator to assign to multiple people

To use guided journeys, enable the profile option ORA_PER_GUIDED_JOURNEYS_ENABLED and if you haven’t enabled Journeys, enable the profile option ORA_PER_JOURNEYS_SETUP_REDWOOD_ENABLED

  • Record Notes in Redwood Employment Processes

Another favorite of this upgrade is the introduction of a notes field that is contextually placed in the Assignment Information sections of Employment flows. There have been Comments and Attachments that were available to users to capture approval context, and now a Notes field has been created to allow users greater ability to provide information to approvers. Not only that, they can be expunged via Remove Person Information, they can be managed via HDL and approvers can correct and add notes.

A later release will allow technical specialists to build reporting and analytics using Notes in –

  • Approval data models
  • BIP templates
  • OTBI subject area

To use the Notes field, it’s available to be switched on Visual Builder Studio – activate your Redwood options and go to ‘Edit Page in Visual Builder Studio’ on the process pages where you want to use it.
